Greater Vancouver Food Bank – Journey of an Apple

What if you could see the ripple effect of a single apple? From the orchard to a child’s hand — this highly visual short film follows the real journey of one piece of fruit through the Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s remarkable ecosystem.

Told from the apple’s perspective, the story highlights all the unseen people, systems, and moments that make it possible for nutritious food to reach those who need it most. It’s a fresh (literally) way to show how generosity, logistics, and love collide in the mission to fight food insecurity.

The GVFB’s mission is simple but powerful: provide healthy food to those in need, while respecting dignity, nourishing hope, and strengthening community. We made this film to reflect that — to make the invisible visible, and help donors understand that feeding someone is never just about the food.

I led the creative direction and story development, bringing in a nimble team to shoot the film in-camera, using inventive camera movement, playful POV, and continuous motion to keep the viewer close to the journey. The result is both educational and delightful — the kind of content that raises awareness while keeping people watching.

This film has supported multiple departments across GVFB and continues to be used as a tool to engage donors by showing the tangible impact of their support.
